HI. So yesterday a got a project file, opened it, relinked it and it worked fine, now when i try to open it again crashes everytime, only with this project, it says

After effects alert

A copy of your project was saved at: /Volumes/Macintosh HD - Data/Ae/CMAF-DE_1_2_1_1_1.aep.

Last log message was: <123145587499008> <U> <5> MAKE_ROOM_FOR_BLOCK DONE. Purge not freeing anything (but maybe recycled memory), recycled=1

.

Generating crash log, which may take a while

I have a macbook pro, 2017, 8gb ram

If none of those tricks work and you do not have Autosave turned on then you will have to start over. There is no way to manually edit an AEP file.

The first thing I would do is open After Effects, enable Caps Lock, then import the problem AEP file instead of opening it. This will create a folder with the problem comp in the folder. Open the folder, open the problem comp, then if AE does not crash, release the Caps Lock.

If AE crashes again then the project file is probably corrupted. You could try importing the comp again and then save the new AEP as a previous version. If that also fails you can try opening one of the Auto Saved files AE should be creating if you have that option turned on.
