Question

After effects crashed and saved nothing even though I saved previously

I've been working on a project for hours and the file has disapeared after AE crashed. I cant find the disk cache and there is no sign of the project file anywhere. I also previously rendered part of the project so it should have saved then too. Any suggestions on how to retrieve the file?

Sorry for the crash.

Did you save the file when you started working on it? Have you tried searching your computer with the name of the project file? Also, did you see any error message or crash report?

Try searching for any AEP file. 

 

In the future, make sure you set up and always use a file naming and folder structure, so you know where everything is, and it is always in the same place. It is highly unlikely that an After Effects crash caused rendered files, previously saved project files, or assets to be deleted.
