After Effects crashes on certain frame during render

Hi everyone,

(After Effects CC 2017)

I'm trying to render a video edit that I made and it crashes on the same frame every time, it doesn't give me an error message it just crashes. I've tried removing all the effects from the clip and it still crashes, if I try to render the rest of the video and not the start it just crashes somewhere else further down but those two clips don't have similar effects or anything like that.

I've tried clearing my disk cache,

going into secret settings and turning on the ignore error setting,

upping and lowering my RAM,

restarting my computer,

removing every single effect from the clip

but nothing works, if someone could please help me I would really appreciate it. This has happened on my other videos many times before and I've just given up and my hard work went to waste.

Thanks,

Shannon.

Duplicate your problem project so you have a backup copy of it.

Move the CTI (time indicator) to the frame where the comp crashes, select all layers in the comp, press the U key twice to find all modified properties and look for keyframes or effects. Set the work area to about 10 frames before the problem and 10 frames after and try a render limited to the work area using the default Lossless preset in the Render Cue's Output Module. If that render fails, start turning things off by turning off the effects first until the render stops crashing.

If you still have problems change the output module to render a TIFF sequence and then if the render crashes you may be able to restart the render one frame after the crash, then go back and render just the single frame that is causing the crash. If you are on a deadline or if your renders take longer than a few seconds a frame, it almost always a good idea to render image sequences because it is so easy and seamless to go back in and just render a few problem frames than it is to have to render everything again and again.

I hope this helps you find the problem.
