After effects crashing

Hi!

I just bought a new mac book pro with 18gb ram since I started a course in After Effects and I needed it to be strong enough for future work and for this specific reasons. It keeps crashing, I have googled and looked into drífferent settings I should change and what not. It is literally driving me crazy now since I can't do anything for more than 1 hour before crash again and I am forced to close the program. I need help with this and then I also need help with other things that I don't seem to manage in the editing. So if there is a kind soul out there that would help a girl out I would be so thankful for the support.
