Question

After Effects Crashing constantly Windows 10 and Windows 11

Using the latest version of After Effects - both my main Desktop machine (Windows 11) = and laptop (Windows 10) are freezing and crashing. Graphics and Video.

No other app is causing this. Most often triggered when TAB through windows to different apps.

Please sort this out. Not acceptable.

You launch Task Manager app and check what part is heavily worked (loaded) to find the cause. You also update the graphic card driver.

I’m having the same issue. It’s not even opening, while before with a slower PC I could work simultaneously on AE and Ps. On top of that, I tried to get and older version and THEY ARE NOT AVAILABLE ANYMORE.

WHY ADOBE, WHY ARE YOU MAKING IT THIS HARD😪!!!!!!!?

AE crashing constantly on windows for me too.  I'm getting at least a crash an hour since "updating" to AE 2025 and 2026 is no better.  Not only is it crashing all of the time but it's unusable slow. What kind of business consistently makes their products worse? This is madness

Hi @real_5081

Sorry to hear about the issue. Could you share more details? Is it happening in a specific project or in all of them? Are there any error messages or crash reports? What are your system specifications (CPU, GPU, RAM, OS version)? Can you try running After Effects in Safe Mode with third-party plug-ins disabled?

Let me know.

Thanks,

Nishu

All projects, complexity or the project is irrelevant. Seemingly anything can make it crash, but rotobrush is particularly bad. I'll make a note of any error messages.

Rig is windows 10, 2x nvme for media and cache, 5950 16 core CPU, 4070 GPU, 128gb ram.

I've tried safe mode, resetting oreferences, disabling "features" that can slow it down. None of it matters - AE and Premiere have been awful, slow and unreliable for me since 2025 was released. And it's not just playback, simply navigating the UI, trimming a clip opening the file menu - everything is half the speed.

I have the same ISSUE, and this is very bad as I can´t work with “flow” and I need to restart the program again an again. I have windows 11 (with woindows 10 no problems)

Exact the same, the crash occurs in After Effects when in "TAB" to switch between different windows - for instance between Windows Explorer and AFX or Photoshop and AFX. (here is the screen)

N

No safe-mode does not help. No 3rd Party plug-ins.

MSI
Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-9880H CPU @ 2.30GHz (2.30 GHz)
32,0 GB (31,8 GB usable)
Windows 11 Pro
25H2

Please fix it because I’m paying each month for a sowtware I can´t use.

You check your latest graphic card driver.
