After Effects crashing with use of Apple SF Pro
Hiya all, looks like this has been a known issue to Adobe for the past couple years with some alleged fixes? I was not able to find a solid answer and unfortunately this bug is hindering some work productivity.
I have an end user of mine who reports perpetual AE crashing (not slow, full crash) when using Apple's SF Pro font. The following is the crash message:
"After Effects Alert
A copy of your project was saved at: [filepath]
<4817415>
<BEE_WorkQueue> <5>
BEE_WorkQueue_PreCloseProject end
Generating crash log, which may take a
few minues"
Macbook Pro M1 Max - macOS Monterey (aware we are behind for other reasons)
After Effects v23.1
SF Pro Version 18.0d12e2
User was on a previous version of AE when issue first happened, and I had them update to this current version.
I also reccomended they re-download SF Pro from Apple's site (pre-installed font anyway?).
Customary device power cycle as well did not resolve the issue.
Per some older thread suggestions, I had them use an older version of SF Pro family from someone's Github, but these were not the SF Pro that he needs to work with (worked, though!).
AE works fine otherwise with any other font on any other project. It's lead me to believe it's the same issue others have reported -- an engineer in one post said AE had a hard time disciphering SF Pro variants causing the crash?
I'm wondering if anyone has insight on this, and any tips?
