After effects custom countdown intervals

Hey folks, simple question here. Couldn't find any answers online

How would I go about making an on-screen countdown that decreases in number every X seconds? I've only been able to find tutorials for timers that countdown at non-adjustable intervals like 1 second. The countdown would be from a large number like 100 and would decrease in number at weird intervals like every .52 seconds. I've been stumped on this for a couple of days.

Thanks

Nothing to be stumped about. Countdowns are just abstract number-munching and you could easily replace AE's native "time" variable with whatever multipliers you desire or simply keyframe everything with externally tied in sliders. There's really nothing more to it. If you can point to whatever specific example you are referencing, I'm sure people can advise more specifically.
