After Effects Error: Crash occurred while invoking plug-in "Character Palette"

That is it. in After Effects 2020 and 2021 (18.0.1, 18.0 and 17.7) I have the same problem that started since I downloaded the last update of After: I try to convert a PSD text layer to editable text, and the software crashes with the message: "After Effects Error: Crash occurred while invoking plug-in "Character Palette".

And now I can't work in my project anymore because everytime I open the project this message appears. The only way I can make it work is removing the plug-in from "plug-ins" folder while the project is open, but when I close and open again, the message is there again.

I've tried to use Adobe Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool, removed everything but when I install, the same message, the same bug, and I can't work again.

I REALLY wish I could download any previously version, before 17.7, but there's no option for me in Creative Cloud for that. Any way for me to do it?

Is there any way I can fix it?

I finnaly fix the problem by reseting the preferences;

While After Effects is starting up, press Ctrl+Alt+Shift (Windows) or Command+Option+Shift (Mac OS)

 I managed to reset the preferences, but it didn't solve the problem.
