After Effects error: entry point does not center

I can't center the entry point in After Effects or shape layer with the shortcut keys ctrl + home and crtl+shift+home.

I'm not sure what you mean by entry point but I'm guessing it's anchor point.

There is a setting in preferences which will cause the anchor point to be the center of new shape layers.

(Windows) Edit/Preferences/General/Center Anchor Point in New Shape Layers.

(Mac) After Effects/Preferences/General/Center Anchor Point in New Shape Layers.

Try Ctrl + Alt + Home. That's the shortcut that centers the anchor point. If it doesn't work, select the Pan Behind tool (shortcut key: Y), hold Ctrl and drag the anchor point towards the center. It should snap into place.
