After Effects initializing MediaCore caused by AMD drivers

I installed after effects for the first time on this computer, but I was met with a initializing mediacore error. After some troubleshooting I narrowed it down to my AMD graphics card drivers (I use a RX 9070 XT and the drivers are up to date). The only fix I have is to disable the drivers, but that’s not optimal.

Hi Milo5123, sorry to hear about the crash.

You issue is similar to the issue discussed on this thread:

It seems like an issue tied to specific AMD driver versions, not After Effects itself. The driver versions that cause it are 32.0.31007.1017 and 32.0.21043.7012. The confirmed workaround is to downgrade to driver version 32.0.23027.2005, which several users in the community have reported resolves the MediaCore error.

You can grab older AMD Adrenalin drivers from AMD's driver download page. Let me know how it goes after the downgrade.

    Thanks,

    Nishu

    Thank you Nishu!
Downgrading my drivers to version 32.0.23027.2005 worked.
