Question

After Effects is deleting my folders automatically

Hi there!

Recently I've been having this issue with After Effects deleting unused folders/items for every project I create. I have been using a template folder structure for the past few years to save time and now I have to create each folder again since Ae deletes the empty ones.
I couldn't find any setting that prevents this. I'm using After Effects 24.1
Do you know what could be causing this?

Before saving:

After saving the project:

Many thanks!

Hi @JohnColombo17100380 sharing an update here. I've updated to 24.4 and it's still happening. I've realized sometimes it happens at any moment and not at saving the project.

Sorry for the delayed response. I'd recommend creating the template file again in the new version. If the issue continues, please share the template file so that we can test it in house.

Looking forward to your response. Moving this thread from Bugs to Discussions for troubleshooting.

Thanks,

Nishu

Hi @JohnColombo17100380 thanks so much for your answer. This didn't happen until this version, I'm updating now to the 24.4 version to see if that fixes it.

Hi @Optimistic_Everglow5D52,

Thank you for reporting this issue. This certainly appears to be a bug—I would expect empty folders to be removed only when using File > Dependencies > Reduce Project, not on save.

Was this happening in any AE version before 24.1? And does it continue to occur in the latest 24.4 version?

Thanks for any additional information you can provide,
