Question

After Effects is showing wrong font type

Hi there,

I'm using AE2023 rarely at the moment and I noticed that almost every single time, that it shows me the wrong font (type). No matter what kind of font I was using. Is that something common?

You can see it in the example "LÜBECK" when I chose another font type like "light", it's fine but some others are messed up. It does not seem to have a clear pattern. The Gotham font is a OTF but I already had that issue with TTF as well.

I can't be the first to have this kind of issue. Could anyone provide some help? Would be awesome. 🙂

Yes, it's definitely not normal/ intended, but without specific info it's near impossible to figure out what exactly is causing this. As a start, weed out any fonts you may not need on the system, especially suspicious free fonts and such. Likewise, consider cleaning out the system font cache and the Adobe font cache.

You have faux caps enabled and as a start I'd turn that off. Other than that check the glyph substitution settings in the flyout menu of the character palette.

With faux caps you mean the capitals button in the character palette right? That does unfortunately not change the behaviour.

I could fix 2 word with a lot of luck. "LÜBECK" still does not want to work. Now the B and K changes from Gotham to Myriad Pro, when I type them in.

But you have to agree that this is an abnormal behaviour, isn't it?
