After effects keep crashing when i open the app!

Ive been trying to fix this issue all day articles and ive done everything but it still doesnt work- I installed ae a day ago and it worked fine but i noticed some lag so i looked up how to deal with the lag and thats how it just started full on crashing as soon as i open ae it pops up with "After effects error: Crash in progress"

Any ideas??

Really sorry for the crash.

Could you share your system specifications (CPU, GPU, RAM, OS version)? Do you see any crash report? Also, how do you launch After Effects - by double-clicking a project file or clicking its icon?
