Question

After Effects keeps crashing when I open a file

Please help Adobe community! I get the error message "project must be converted from version..." which I know is just a mesage saying it was made on an older version. But as soon as I click "ok" the whole after effects program closes down. Then I get a message sayings its shut down unexpectedly.

Can someone answer why I can't open any project files without crashing?

Hi defaultow6nrizsedqc,

Sorry to hear about this!

In addition to what Mylenium suggested, would it be possible for you to share your project file (.aep) with us so that we can test it on our end? We don't need the media.

Thanks.

Rameez

Without any info about your syystem, the contents of the project and things like with what version it was created and in what version you are trying to open it nobody can tell you much. From specific third-party plug-ins in the project causing trouble to things like incompatible cache data of older Rotobrush version to simple hardware acceleration issues this could be anything. In any case, you have to be much more specific.
