Question

After Effects keeps freezing when I open a project.

Also creates a project file called 'After Effects Crash.aep which is 484 KB which when I try to open gives me the error: missing data in file 33::4. The original project is about 9MB, and some of the autosaves are around that size and then a few of the newer ones are 484KB.

I'm working on After Effects 2019 on an iMac running Mojave

I have various files but when I try to open them they all do the same thing, freeze. I've left it overnight but never launched when I got back in the morning. There's an older version of the project that opens but it's very outdated. Is there any way to fix this problem? It's very urgent

Thanks in advance

Hello,

If you keep the project file and the related footages separately, you intentionally move the footages to other folders and open the project file only. You check the project file can be opened or not. You find the offline warning of the footages and relink them.
