After Effects Memory

Not the first post on here but, I can barely add three layers with basic effects before AE gives a bunch of memory warnings and eventually killls my displays...

Today I uninstalled all plugins and After effects and then reinstalled a clean version of AE with zero plugins and the issue still persists. Not sure what going on but the latest version of After Effects has been garbage, I can barely use it, sometime I do one thing, save and close. Then re-open the file and repeat just to get anything done.

Alot of time it is a very specifc amount of ram missing. 7.917mb

In the past AE ran buttery smooth and we could have/use other software while it was open. Especially C4d, i've been using both together for 20 years now and never had an issue even with photoshop open too! Unitl these latest versions. AHHHHHHHH!

Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-9900K

64.0 GB

3090 24BG of VRAM

Displays? What displays? and  not to point out the obvious: Your screen recording looks totally blown out, so there's a good chance of a serious misconfiguration like a botched monitor profile or having issues with 10 bit/ HDR rendering.

Yes it is, OBS happened to recorded like that and it does the job of showing my issue so I didnt bother fixing it. When the recording goes black that is occuring on the displays, as AE is crashing from the memory issue the displays go out for a min.

Hi Thomsonx,

Sorry for your issue.

Does it happen with all the projects or a particular one? Could you try changing the Video renderer to Software Only in File > Project Settings and disabling Multi-frame Rendering in Preferences > Memory & Performance?

Let us know if it brings any change.

Thanks,

Nishu
