PLS HELP ME ITS FOR A SCHOOL PROJECT

Yeah, well, then learning how AE works might be helpful.  Tell you what:

  • Preview sections of the comp only.  Not the whole thing.
  • Use the Work Area!  Put the timeline  cursor where you want previewing to begin.  Hit the "b" key.  Put the timeline cursor where you want the previewing to end,  Hit the "n" key.  You've set the Work Area.  And you can move those Work area markers around if you want.
  • Hit zero on the numeric keypad to preview.  Screw the space bar.
  • Go to AE Help and look at the section on Viewing and Previewing.

When you post screenshots just drag them to the forum. It's about 1/10 the work of posting them on another site and creating a link.

Second point, your screenshot is 100% useless because it does not tell us anything at all about what you are doing in the comp. Press the u key twice to reveal all of the moeified properties of the layers in the timeline. Try and figure out which layers may be slowing things down by turning the layer or the effects off on that layer, When you find a problem show us the entire AE UI with the modified properties of the problem layer or layers revealed. Make sure that the comp is selected in the project panel so we have some idea of your comp settings, then give us system, OS, AE version and types of footage and basic workflow details and we can probably help you out.

Sorry, but without system info and details like how long the work area in your cropped screenshot actually is supposed to be this is usesless. This could be perfectly normal - there's a reason why it's called RAM preview and if your system only has limited working memory, you can only ever preview so much. It seems you are misunderstanding something very fundamental here and expect AE to work in ways it doesn't.
