After Effects on Windows GPU Graphics Driver Crash
I'm posting this here in case anyone else has had this problem as I spent quite some time trouble-shooting this, and finally seemed to have addressed the issue.
The Problem — Windows Graphics Driver Crashes While Using After Effects
This problem has been occurring ever since I upgraded to Windows 11. The issue usually ends up with your system displays/monitors going black for a few seconds after which the driver recovers and your displays return to normal. After Effects, however, doesn't completely recover and you have to restart the program in order to see the timeline properly. This crash can happen at any time, but most often happens when switching to a different program or accessing other programs like Media Encoder.
Solution — Three Steps to Solve Issue
- Use the Adobe Cleaner tool to completely remove After Effects (Link Here)
- Disable GPU Acceleration in Windows 11 (Link Here)
- Disable GUI effects in Windows 11 (Link Here)
After doing that everything has been running perfectly, and without issues!
Hope this helps if anyone needs it.
Cheers!
