After effects plugin installation: doesn't show up

So I downloaded a plugin and copied it inside the presets folder. When I open after effects it doesn't show up. Then, in after effects, I clicked browse presets and tried importing it through bridge. But when I click the plugin in Bridge, again it doesn't do anything. I'm sure that the plugin was created in an older version of after effects than what I'm using. Is this the problem? Please help, I really need this plugin to do my work. Thanks

It's okay I found the solution! I copied the .ffx file from a mac to a harddrive and then to windows. Apparently doing that damages the file.. So I used google drive to transfer it and now it works fine.

What plug-in? What system? What version of AE? You need to be much more specific.

It's actually a preset. A .ffx file. It's BakerEasyTransition.ffx  I'm working with the 2017 version of after effects. And it's on windows 10.
