Question

After effects preview black while i play it

Hi, I have a problem when I play the video, the whole screen is black, but the sound works.

Looks like that your layer us disbaled in the Timline panel.

Still have a problem with black screen

Are you sure that layer has video?

In the screen shot, the visibility (eye) icon seems completey disabled, not turned off just not there.

The file may be audio only.

Assuming you are using spacebar to preview.

It looks like your preview is currently not set to play video.

In the preview panel (to the right of the Comp panel), click on the eye icon to the left of the speaker icon.

as Toolfarm says, transcode you mp4 to ProRez or DNxHR also update your GPU driver

The cause may be related to the codec of your MP4. What I would recommend to do is to add the codec if necessary and update your graphic card driver.

I did all the steps and still, i have a black screen.
