After Effects Preview Lag

When I try to ram preveiw my composition it lags for about 2-3 seconds and then starts playing. This happens any time I preveiw, even at 1/4 resolution. I tried clearing my cache, changing my cache folder to my faster ssd, and reinstalling (keeping preferances). Somebody else said they had a similar problems and it was "Render Multiple Frame Simultaneously" but they said that reinstalling fixed it. How can I fix this delay?
