After Effects Project Files Save Issue

When I save my After Effects Project File, it saves as an Internet Explorer Shortcut and not an After Effects project file. I can only open/edit the project file content If I open it in After Effects, however, it opens an Internet Explorer site if I double-click on the file normally.

Any fixes to this issue?

What ended up happening is I had an outdated version of Premiere (2022). It didnt pop up in creative cloud nor in my file explorer. Ended up deleting it and installing Premieres latest version from Creative Cloud. Saved my project and it saved as a project file.

For some reason, .aeps are associated with Internet Explorer.

Right-click on any .aep and click Properties. Near the top of the Window you'll see which program that file type is associated with and a button that says "Change." Click this, change back to AE 2024 (or whatever your current version is), hit Apply at the bottom-right of the dialog, and all .aeps should once again be properly associated with After Effects.
