After effects randomly crashing / complete shutdowns

Hi!

I've been having issues with After Effects seemingly crashing & shutting down Windows ( as if I cut off the power, instant black screen). Occassionally before, even more so and at times 4-5 times within the hour. It's unrelated to what I'm doing, I can be 30 mins into a session, it can be after 5 minutes. Even if there's just AE running (no other major software to clog up CPU or RAM), even if I freshly empty all caches.
Running the Intel graphics updater, it can't detect any drivers to install and I made sure to get the latest from both Intel and Nvidia after resetting my machine. I don't know what could cause the random shutdowns lately as I've been working without any problems for the longest time.

Hi Sarahs, Sorry for your issue.Usually, it's the GPU driver that could cause such issues. Since you have tried updating it and it hasn't worked, it could be insufficient RAM. After Effects requires at least 16 GB RAM to work properly: https://helpx.adobe.com/si/after-effects/system-requirements.ug.html You could try clean installing the GPU driver one more time if you'd like.Let us know if that helps.
