After effects really slow and buggy

 Hi ever since I updated to the latest update my after effects have been really slow. Any action I do do like simple ones like nudging text going to one comp to another it always go to the circle of death loading. I keep getting the zero denominator error as well. I have restarted, reinstalled, purge media cache and even work at quarter the resolution. 
hope you can help it was just with the recent update and haven't come across this issue before. One of my colleagues is having the same problem he said that ae is using too much memory.
