After effects render completely black

Hi!

Been searching around the forum already for answers but haven't been able to find the solution to my problem.

I'm currently trying to export a simple animation, 4:5 1080x1350, using media encoder to export in the format H.264. This renders out the whole export to be black. Tried to uninstall both AE and ME, without success.

I haven't run into this problem before, and have no clue to what the problem could be so I'd appreciate your time!

All the best,

/Maxine

Hi everyone! Thanks so much for taking the time to reply, and sorry for my lack of screenshots and additional information on the issue. I was on my way home from work and didn't have it all in front of me.

The problem was that I needed to do a system update on my Mac, that resolved the issue completely. Should've obviously tried that before writing here, you live and learn.

Thanks everyone for trying to help, I appreciate that!

All the best,

/Maxine

Is your operating system up to date?

Perhaps try taking the rendered movie into After Effects and see if it plays in After Effects.

Maybe there is a problem with our operating system not showing the movie.

Hi Maxine,

Thanks for reaching out.

As suggested by Rick, please share the following details to help us to understand the issue properly:

  • Screenshot or screen recording that shows the problem.
  • Screenshot of the export settings.
  • Your system specifications (CPU, GPU, RAM, OS).

We're here to help, just need more info.

Thanks,

Nishu

No screenshots, no workflow details, and my only guess is that you have set the video layers to be guide layers or you are not previewing your comp using the Active Camera view.
