Question

After Effects Taking control as active window even when minimized or behind other windows

Right now I can't run After Effects in the background without it constantly switching itself to the active window, even if minimized or another maximized window is in front of it.

What this means is I can't type in other windows because I'll type one character and then that window is no longer active and After Effects becomes the active window. This is also indicated by top of the window turning from a darker shade to a lighter shade.

I thought this was a bug in 17.6 but reverting to and older version hasn't helped.

Seems to happen in any project. Anyone else had this issue and found a fix?

Did you find a solution to this? I am having the same problem after updating to 18.4.1. It seems to happen when both Premiere Pro and After Effects are open. Closing one app fixes it, which is frustrating.

After some experimentation, it seems to be an issue with dynamic link. Anytime I open another After Effects project that has no dynamic linked content from the opened Preimere Pro project will start the "active window spasim". The only way to stop it is to close either Premiere Pro or After Effects.

Everything works just fine when opening After Effects projects that have dynamic linked content linked to the opened Premiere Pro project.

So, if you are having this issue, try closing your Premiere Pro project if you are opening an After Effects project not linked back to that PP project. Hope this helps.
