After Effects Update/Retro Brush Tool

Good morning AE Support community, So yesterday I updated my AE App and before that AE worked smoothly and perfectly and after it was slow and laggy so I shut down my computer for the rest of the night and when I woke up it was fine for a mintue but then it gave me an error saying that  "After Effects warning: Cant use the Roto Brush tool because the "Paint" effect plugin is missing. You may need to reinstall."

So now its back to being slow and laggy as a sloth and I think its because of the Retro Brush Tool and I need to use for a school assignment and it was working really well before the update so I would really like to fix this Immediately so I can get this assignment done as well as my other assingments that I have for this semester so ANY solutions that ANYONE has for this issue would be great and PLEASE share them with me immediately

Sorry to hear about the issue, vevegirl23.

Did you try Warren's suggestion? Did it help? If not, are you still getting the plug-in missing error? Is it slow on all the media files or a particular one?

Sorry to hear that you're having an issue using the Roto Brush Tool.  While it is not necessarily fast, it usually works as expected.

Since the Paint effect is included with After Effects, it sounds like there may be an issue with your installation of After Effects.

To troubleshoot this, I would take the time to uninstall After Effects, restart, and then install it again.  When running the uninstaller, you'll be presented with an option to leave the preferences or not - you can choose either one.
