After Effects Warning: Can't write to font cache directory

Hi,

I have exhausted all previously mentioned solutions posted to the internet. Please do not redirect me to the 2020 threads--I've tried them all.

The problem: I am getting the message "Can't write to font cache directory" when I try to open After Effects. I believe I need to remove a bad font, but don't know how or where to do this.

I've tried uninstalling/re-installing. I cannot "run as administrator" since I am an employee and am not granted these permissions. Please assist. I've tried everything, and my IT department has given up. Please explain in laymens terms -- I'm not a coder, just a frustrated employee.

Thanks,

Hi default2b2zdd91c80e,

Did you try the expert's suggestion? Did it help? If not, please try changing the permissions as instructed in the following article: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/x-productkb/multi/preferences-folder-read-only-error.html

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Nishu

This method may work although you can not use Run as administrator command.

1. You find the font cache folder.

2. You right-click it and choose Properties.

3. You move to Sharing tab and set the shared folder on the cache folder.

4. The permission should be everyone read/write.
