I want to zoom in to an image however it's juttering and not smooth? Can anyone tell me how to ensure smoothness throughout when zooming?

It would really help me out!

Did you fully cache your timeline or did you just hit Spacebar to playback? I'm not sure about your experience with After Effects, but it sounds like you might be a beginner. If so, then you need to understand that After Effects wasn't built for real-time playback like a non-linear editor is. Click Window>Preview to bring up the Preview panel to explore your options. You can have it cache the timeline (render the frames to RAM) for real-time playback before starting. Otherwise Ae will try to cache at the same time as it's playing which leads to slowdowns. It's hard to say without seeing a screenshot of your project.

Also, make sure you're not working in Full resolution, especially if your not viewing your Comp panel at 100%, which is often the case, unless you're on a HiDPI/Retina display. If you work in 1/2 res then After Effects will only display half the pixels, which will process each frame twice as fast as Full resolution.

I also find that it helps if you clear your cache every now and then...Edit>Purge>All Memory  Disk Cache...hope this helps :-)

If your motion is too juddery then that means you're moving too slowly, or to put it another way, you're changing the value by too little of an amount for the time in between your keyframes. Reduce the space between your keyframes or make the zoom more dramatic.

Ah apologies! I exported the two versions to show you and they're smooth! It must have been my play back! Is thee anyway I can replicate the real thing when I play back without exporting?
