after the new windows update this week my after effect when i type text it becomes a box thingy i cant fix it

If Rob's suggestion doesn't help, could you share:

1. A screenshot of what the "box thingy" looks like.

2. Your exact After Effects version (Help > About).

3. Your Windows version (Settings > System > About > Version).

In the meantime you can try running After Effects in Safe Mode with third-party plug-ins disabled. Here's how: https://adobe.ly/4xYahzF
