Afterfx.exe error

Question

I've been having a problem lately where when I try to use the 3D camera or lighting, I have the error "AfterFX.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close".

The 3D cam / lighting actually works just fine when I add it, but once I close after effects and then try to open the project file again, the error pops up. If the 3D cam / lighting is contained within a pre-composition, the project file opens up just fine but if I try to open the pre-comp the error shows up.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling to no effect. Does anyone know why this might be happening?

This one is difficult to pin down.

What has worked for other users is interrogating the plugins, or undocking.

Check out this thread from No Interest and jgreenberg.
