AfterFX.exe - system error

Question

Since having re-downloaded After Effects I have been having extreme difficulty opening the application. Whenever I open it the same message appears “AfterFX.exe – System Error” which then goes on to read “The program can’t start because opencv_world341.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix the problem”. Since then I have tried; reinstalling After Effects, installing opencv_world341.dll (which appears to be non-existent), downloading “Hetman Partition Recovery” in an attempt to locate the deleted file and even completed a system restore on my laptop etc. (none of which proved successful).

Hi chloeb,Sorry for the issue. I understand After Effects crashes whenever you try to launch it. I appreciate that you tried to fix the issue yourself before looking for help. Have you tried the suggestion shared by ToolfarmJP ? Here is another suggestion, please create a new user account with administrator privileges and try to launch the application there.
