Alpha Channel Not Working When Exporting

I'm creating animated titles in after effects, and I usually have no troubles exporting a quicktime with:

Output module-  

animation and rgb + alpha 

 

But for the past few days I cannot get my titles to export on a transparent background. When I bring them into premiere it's on a black background. I dont want to key the colour away because it's not as clean and crisp!

Try using the High Quality with Alpha preset in the Output Module. 

 

You should also import your rendered video into After Effects and check the info in the Project Panel. This will tell you instantly if you rendered with an alpha channel. There are only a few codecs that support RGBA, and even fewer that support RGBA 10-bit. The default preset should give you what you need.

Sorry about the issue. Which version of After Effects are you working on? Could you share a screenshot of your output module settings? Please check if you have selected Apple ProRes 4444 in the format options. Also, please share your system specifications (OS, OS version, CPU, GPU, RAM). We're here to help.

Hi Ishan, 

 

My After Effects is up to date, I'm working on version 22.5.0! I'm working off a 2020 iMac with the following-

MacOS Monterey (version 12.4)

RAM: 2667 MHz DDR4 memory module (I have 48GB of ram installed)

Graphics:  AMD Radeon Pro 5700 XT 16 GB

 

Below is a screenshot of my output module settings. I just tried Apple ProRes 4444 instead of animation and it didn't work 😞

The Quicktime Animation codec is deprecated. Don't use it. Use the Preset High Quality with Alpha. Premiere should read that format. You can check the file in After Effects. You can check file interpretation in Premiere Pro.

 

Movie files with Alpha Channels will always display a black background when played in a Media player because no standard media player uses alpha channels.
