Alter Effects not Respond when i click on the menu bar

Hi, whenever I click on the menu bar, the program hangs for several minutes or sometimes not respond anymore. How can i fix this? thank you.

What's the version of After Effects you're using? Does it help if you close the Character panel?

Hi Nishu! i have the 23.4.0 version of AE and yes! the probles dissapears when i close the character panel! 

with the previous version it als occurred

Can you update your After Effects 23.5 and see if it fixes the issue? Updating to 23.5 fixed the issue on my end.
