After updating to After Effects 18.2 and emptying the cache disk there are problems with an existing After Effects file and I get folowing message:

After Effects error: the file format module could not parse the file ( 45 :: 36)

Please help

I fixed the problem; somehow after updating to AE 18.2 file extensions .png and .jpg where gone.

For example before update a fle was: cloud.png and after update: cloud (without .png)

I imported the files again and replaced every single item with the new imported files. A lot of of work but it fixed the problem.

Strange, but I think theres is something woring with the update AE 18.2

Hi defaultghxs8a5e54b1,

That's not ideal. Sorry for your issue.

Are you able to open any other project or does it happen with all the projects that you try to open? Did you use any third-party plug-in while working on the project? Also, have you tried importing it in a new blank project?

Let us know if it helps.

Thanks,

Nishu

That's strange! Have you seen this with any other project?

Glad that you fixed the issue.

Thanks,
