Anchor Points not Snapping on Shape Layers

Hi There,

I'm doing a School of Motion tutorial, and am a little confused on a very basic function.

When I hold cmd, the anchor point of a shape layer does not snap to either the center or corners etc. When I hold cmd on other layers, like a vector shape or comp, the anchor point snaps.

Would you have any idea why this isn't working for shape layers? I've tried toggling the snapping box on the toolbar, and that doesn't seem to change the functionality.

Thanks!

Ensure you are selecting the Layer Anchor Point - it is larger than a Shape Layer’s Contents>ShapeType Anchor Point which is much smaller - these do not have snapping support.

Only the Layer Anchor Point has snapping support.

I just tested this and I would bet that @Roland Kahlenberg has the correct answer.

The snapping feature with the Anchor Point Tool (Pan Behind) is layer based so it the shape itself is active, that function won’t work.

    Hi there,

Thanks for the post. I tried it myself and was able to snap the Anchor Point to a shape layer with a modifier key (CMD, as I'm on macOS). You may want to reset preferences. See if that might work.

If you can't get this working, you can center the layer's anchor point on its shape content. Choose Layer > Transform > Center Anchor Point in Layer Content (or use the keyboard shortcut).

    Hope that helps!

    Thanks,
