Question

Animation of path

Good morning!

I would like to animate the transformation of shape 1 into shape 2. I have searched the forum but have not found an answer. Inserting the keyframes path of shape 1 into shape 2 makes that these path "dissappear" during transformation - I mean that the point are differently defined.

It is a rotation of the head from left to right and I would like to do it on a paths animation.

Unfortunately the number of points of shape 1 and shape 2 are different. In addition, when I want to oset - set first vertex in layer menu, on both shape 1 and shape 2 is unactive and not possible.

I kindly ask for advice on how this can be fixed.

thank you in advance:)

Ann

When you animate vector paths, there should have the same number of points at each keyframe, and the First Vertex must be in the same position on the curve. Points will travel in a straight line from one position to another unless you open up Window/Mask Interpolation and try a few different settings.

The other option is to run Window/Create Nulls from Paths/Points Follow Nulls script to generate a bunch of nulls before you start animating the path. Then you can add another null in the center of all of the nulls the script creates, parent all the Path nulls to the new null, and then animate the position, scale, and rotation of the new master null. That is the solution that I would use for the shapes you have shared. There is also a free New Create Nulls From Paths Extended Includes More Features script available. I use that one all the time.

Create a blend in Illustrator, expand it to release the individual paths, import or copy&paste over to AE as shape keys. tweak as needed.
