im currently making a video of a neon light sign, problem is with pixel ratio correction off everything is squished in horizontally, even my tools like rectangle tool and ellipse tool when i use shift to try and make a circle. when its toggled on, everything looks right and the tools work, but when i export and play the video its the same as before. how can i fix this?

That aspect ratio is what you causing your problems. Enter into Composition > Composition Settings and change your actual pixel aspect ratio to Square pixels (as Dave suggests you). If you are not familiar with that technical setups, try to use a preset every time you start a composition (maybe HDTV 1080 24/25/30 will be perfect for you)

Yeah, work in a square-pixel aspect ratio.  I'll guess your video's 1440x11080.  Work in a 1920x1080 comp.

Well, then presumably you need to change your entire comp settings. Since you haven't provided any actual info about that stuff, we can't tell you more than that.

well my monitor is set to 1920x1080, i set the composition to 1920x1080 with lock aspect ratio to 16:9, using HDV 1080/cpro hd 720 (1.33) pixel aspect ratio with frame rate  30.
