Audio only plays after I open it in Audition

Question

So I'm working with a project that has an audio file (.wav) that I'm using as the base (the effects are timed up with the audio) but I was having trouble playing the audio. I opened it up in Audition (default program for .wav files) and it played back just fine, so then I closed Audition and went back to AE and it played just fine like how I expected it to when I preview my comp. Then, after it reloads itself, it stops playing the audio again. I've restarted my computer (running Windows 11, AE v25.5) and it doesn't seem to fix it. Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks for reaching out.

It could happen due to corrupted media cache. Try clearing it - Go to Edit > Purge > All Memory & Disk Cache. If that doesn't help. If you want to preview only audio, you can press the Del. key on the nm pad.
