Question

Audio stops playing back - constantly have to manually toggle audio hardware setting to get it back

After Effects seems to have issues playing back audio anytime my PC sleeps, lock screen or I minimise the app for a second.

I have to go into settings and manually toggle the Audio Hardware on and off to get it back.

I've tried everything in Windows settings. This seems like a bug in AE.

NEVER MIND IT'S BECAUSE WINDOWS 11 SCREEN SAVING IS TURNING OFF HDMI OR WHATEVER. CAN'T GET AROUND THIS WITHOUT MY MONITOR BEING ON 24/7 AND NOT ENERGY SAVING WHEN I LEAVE MY DESK

WINDOWS 11 IS COMPLETE GARBAGE!

  • Turn off audio power saving

    • Device Manager → Sound devices → Properties

    • Uncheck “Allow computer to turn off this device” << DOESN'T EXIST IN PROPERTIES WINDOW

  • Disable exclusive mode

    • Sound settings → Your device → Advanced

    • Uncheck both Exclusive Mode boxes << WHAT IS THE CURRENT PATH TO THIS IN WINDOWS SETTINGS? WINDOWS 11 SETTINGS ARE NOT SET-OUT AS SIMPLE AS THIS

  • Lock AE to your speakers

    • AE → Preferences → Audio Hardware

    • Pick your actual speaker/headphones ALREADY DOING THIS
