hi!

the issue that i'm facing today is that i lost the project i was working very hard on, and the only remnants are one autosave of it. i made this entire project in AE 2018, but the auto save is for some reason opening in an expired trial of 2019, which i do not use. i use 2018, as stated. i'm very confused as to why this is happening and would like to know if there was a way to have it be able to be opened in 2018, which is the application i created it on. thank you.

Correct answer gxrunges

Are you working across two different machines, or....? If you're on Creative Cloud and have a functional/legal version of 2018, then you also have access to 2019.

somehow the issue resolved itself? now it’s suddenly opening in the right application

Open your project on CC2019 and save a copy to CC2018

unfortunately as soon as i open the expired trial auto save project, it immediately just saves and doesn’t give me a save as option.

To clarify, are you double-clicking the project file in your file browser?
Have you tried just using the Open command directly within After Effects?
