Auto-save when switching back to AE

Hi Adobe, all,

In the version 2015.3 of After Effects I find it annoying that every time I switch back to AE coming from another application, I have to wait for the auto-save.

While I am happy that auto-save is turned on by default and I don't want to turn it off, it is, in my eyes, a stupid moment for AE to choose to auto-save.

I would like to request if it's possible to have AE auto-save in the background, when you stop using the application, instead of while returning to it.

what are your experiences with this?
