Banding on footage After Effects

I'm working on a 2021 Macbook Pro M1 Max and getting 8bit style banding on my Prores HQ footage in After Effects. In the images attached you can see that the sky in Premiere has no banding and exactly the same shot in After Effects has the characteristic of 8bit footage. This effect is also random and doesn't affect whole clips, but rather some frames and not others. The same footage on my 2019 iMac does not have any issues. I have interacted with 3 different Adobe Support people and no one could fix it.

    Just to rule out the obvious, in your project panel, is there a small box at the bottom saying "8-bit"?  

    Or if you go to File > Project Settings > Color, what does the depth say?

    I've tried 16bpc, 32bpc and a bunch of other color management and rendering things and nothing has changed it!
