Bengali character not showing up in Adobe Bengali Font

Hi, I would like to type this character ল্প in After Effects, but even though it appears correctly in the bottom panel, the characters get separated in the composition - and end up looking like ল্প (<--EDIT: even though I entered the two characters in separately there, when I posted this comment, the two combined...). I have tried the Bangla, Adobe Bengali, and Myriad Bengali scripts. How can I get these two characters to combine?
