Question

BG in After Effects

I am creating an animated GIF that is to be placed on a website with a white BG.  I've added a solid white BG to my composition however when I render it, the BG appears to be an offwhite color.  I have played around with the lossless and changed the chnnel for the video output to RGB + Alpha and still have the same result.  Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Nothing wrong here. You need to study up on color management, how the GIF format works and how web colors work. The basic gist is that you are messing up the colors in the first place by not considering that despite support for CM being part of browsers, 99% of the time it isn't used on the web. Ergo getting fancy with color management in Photoshop and AE is utterly pointless when just the opposite is required - using plain sRGB without any color management on a calibrated monitor. That and of course AE is just plain terrible at creating GIFs. You better focus on rendering on an image sequence or a clip and importing it into Photoshop or any other GIF-generation tool. that way you can even force the colors in the palette to be perfect, you get better dithering and the file sizes are way smaller than anything AE will throw at you.

Could you share some screen captures of your Comp Panel and Timeline panel?
