Question

Blend effect causing a Jitter in motion

Hello,

I'm working on a visual of a pretzel shape blob to create an inorganic-shaped pipe. The pipe has separated color sections as well which appears as the shape follows a path. Though the echo effect allows for the pipe to form it also causes the colors to jitter in place which isn't what I am trying to achieve. Would be great to get some insights on how would I be able to stop the jitter that occurs within the pipe motion.

Adding a sample of the current visual below. Hope this helps, thank you.

Melynium gave you the answer. The frame duration is .4 seconds. Your time delay must be an even multiple of that value. Try changing the value to -.004

That's pretty much a sampling issue with your Echo effect. The timing of the delay is just not set correctly, so it fluctuates from frame to frame because the actual sampling is not even multiples or fractions of the frame duration. You need to tweak your setup better or simply use a completely different methodology to create your visual.

Just showing us the problem does not tell us anything at all about your workflow or give any clues to what might be wrong. We need details. Embedded (not uploaded) screenshots that show us the modified properties of the layers would give us something to start with.

My only guess is that you have a frame rate/delay issue in Echo. This can cause a stroboscopic effect as you see in westerns where the stagecoach wheels appear to be rolling backward. Select your layers, press the U key twice to reveal all modified properties, then drag the screenshot to the reply field, or copy it and paste it from, or use the toolbar to show us what you are doing. Be sure and include the composition settings. That's easy to do if you have the main comp selected in the Project panel. I'd be happy to take a look.

Hello,

My bad on the missing details. Here is the composition setting I have currently.

Here is the Echo effect settings

and this here is the shape layer settings

I'd like to understand the technicalities of the echo effect, how the frame rate timing and comp setting affect the echo effect. Thank you again for your help, appreciate it. Cheers
