Blue screen crash

Hi,

I've been having regular crashes (blue screen) on windows using several versions of after effects (21,22,23). I did a clean install on windows, updated to the latest GPu drivers but still the same problem.
Tt will crash after 1 minute or an hour.

Os: windows 10 Pro --> version 22H2
Gpu version: studio driver 522.30

Does someone know what's could be happening?

Thanks

Hi well playede59646554,

Welcome to the community and sorry for your issue.

The BSOD is usually related to issues with GPU or the driver. However, there could be other factors.

When exactly does the BSOD occur? Is there a specific action that triggers it? Does it happen only when you use GPU accelerated effect? Also, what's the error on the blue screen?

Let us know, we're here to help.

Thanks,

Nishu

Hello,

- Thank you for your answer. the BSOD can be triggered by just opening after effects. It doesn't matter if you are working on a project or not. I removed all plugins, it happens on projects with or without any effects.

- The error on the blue screen I will write those down but they vary.

Hope this helps

What's the size of Maximum Disk Cache Size? Also, how much free space do you have in that drive when After Effects is storing the media cache? Can you try clearing the media cache and see if that brings any change?

Let us know.

Thanks,

Nishu

Without any actual crash details and exact system info we can't tell you much. You need to be much more specific. If you have BSODs, chances are it's a genuine hardware problem like your graphics card overheating due to overclocking or similar. Likewise, it could be issues with your storage devices and the caches. Anyway, you need to provide more details or else this ends up being pointless unproductive speculation.
