So C4D gets auto installed with Affter Effects. I would have probably been fine with it if it had been clearly stated from the get go, or I was given a choice. But it wasn't, and I wasn't. At no time during the installation of After Effects was I made aware it would be installing C4D. Then it puts it where ever it wants. This is trash.

I get it it. Some people want it, and love it and so on. But this is not acceptable behavior. So what he absolute... well you know.

Just fix it. Make it a clearly visible requirement in CC, and as well allow us to choose WHERE it installs. I don't want software doing ANYTHING I don't expressly expect and  allow it to. End of story.

Tighten up.

If you want to bend 3D layers or extrude text or shape layers you need the C4D rendering engine. It's one of the key features of After Effects. It is part of the C4D Lite installation.  If you do not use it there is no performance hit. There are also so many uses for C4D lite when camera tracking, and compositing options with 3D layers that deleting the program cripples those capabilities. Just last week I exported a half dozen 3D comps as C4D files and used C4D lite to complete the composite. It's a very valuable tool.

The only reason I can see to not have C4D lite installed with After Effects is if you have the full version of C4D already installed.

If you are so short on drive space that you cannot afford the room then you can install the entire creative cloud on an external hard drive. I spend under $200 on an extremely fast external SSD for testing AE on an M1 bare bones Mac Mini and it works perfectly. I have even abandoned my iMac pro and my 3 year old MacBook Pro as daily working machines because the Mac Mini works so well.

If your work never requires any of the advanced features of After Effects there are a bunch of less expensive and even free apps for creating simple animations. You might want to consider looking into another app.

I'm not questioning the validity, or the usefulnes of it. My position has nothing to do with the function of C4D in Affter Effects itself, or even why it's there. This is about acceptable software installation practices, and installing 3rd party software without consent or prior knowledge is unacceptable. Not to mention they give no control over where it installs.

This makes it PUA, or PUP which is classified as malware, malicious or not. This has been established for along time now. This is not new.

This is a Users Group Forum.

I'd recommend using User's Voice for a feature request. Here is more information: https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/how-to-user-voice.html

I wouldn't call asking Adobe to not install software without my consent a feature request. Thanks for the link though.
