Can I add more nodes (points) to a shape/mask/solid drawn with pen tool

I created a solid layer and turned it into a mask. I drew the mask with a pen tool. The shape I made has a certain number of nodes.

I want to create a mask path and need to add more nodes to be able to modify the shape into another desired shape.

How can I do that?

Have you tried, with the pen tool selected, clicking on the the line of the mask at the points where you want the new nodes to be created?

Use the Alt/Option and Ctrl/Cmnd keys as modifiers. Read the help files. Here's a very short tutorial I did on using the pen tool:
