Correct answer Rick Gerard

If you look closely, you will see the comp size is changed with Composition Settings. There is one section that looks like the comp size is being changed automatically. If it was actually being resized without opening Composition Settings a script is involved. Nothing in the tutorial makes be believe that you can grab a corner of a layer and resize a comp.

There is nothing in that tutorial but some basic expressions used to scale layers based on comp size.

There is no access to Composition size (Ctrl/Cmnd + K) from the timeline, so you cannot link comp size to a null. As demonstrated in the tutorial, you can link layers to the composition size or another layer size, but you cannot control Comp size with a layer (a Null).

You could use the File/Scripts/Demo Pallet - Scale Composition script to scale a composition uniformly, but you will need to write or purchase a script to change the aspect ratio and scale of a composition.
